Description
No. 28 Castle Street is a house from the early 19th century. It features a rendered exterior with end pilasters and is constructed from random red sandstone rubble. The building has coped verges and an M-shaped slate roof, although the rear ridge is covered with asbestos sheet. It stands two storeys high and has three bays. The first floor includes 16-pane sash windows, with the central window designed in a Gothick style. The ground floor has projecting 5-light canted bay windows, each with glazing bars and protected by metal tent-canopy hoods. The central door opening contains a recessed six-panelled door with panelled reveals, where the top two panels are glazed. The porch is adorned with a tent-canopy hood supported by twin posts.
