Description

The Clock Tower, built in 1862, is a notable structure located on St Mary's Street in Nether Stowey. It is constructed from coursed and squared red sandstone rubble with freestone dressings. The tower features a pyramidal slate roof topped with a wooden open bellcote, which also has a slate roof and a large weathervane.

This slender, three-stage tower has off-sets and includes a pointed arch door opening on the north side of the ground floor, framed by a moulded stone surround and a stopped label, leading to a plank door. Each face of the second stage has a single lancet window, while the third stage displays a clock on each face, featuring a coloured face with gilded hands and numerals.
