Description
Cockspurs is a cottage that dates from the 18th century or earlier. It is built from local stone that has been cut and squared, with a roof made of plain clay tiles and pantiles, featuring one coped gable and brick and stone chimney stacks. The building has a complicated plan on a wedge-shaped site, likely originally consisting of several small cottages. It is two storeys high with a two-bay north elevation facing Old Hill, which includes a gable end. This elevation features three light horizontal bar casement windows above and a small pane casement window in the lower bay, along with a boarded door in bay two. There is a timber and tiled verandah along part of this elevation. The west elevation, which has one bay, includes composite sash windows with 8+12+8 panes at both levels. The south facade facing New Street has two gables with a noticeable straight joint between them and features three 20th-century windows of varying types. The interior has not been seen.
