Description

Nightingale Lodge, leading to Orchardlea Park, dates to the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed and squared rubble, with a slate roof and diagonally set rubble stacks. The design is Tudoresque. The lodge has one storey and an attic, with a half-octagonal front. It features a two-storey gabled porch. A window to the first floor has two chamfered stone mullions, each light with a trefoil head; it has a leaded light on the right and a casement on the left. The ground floor has a door opening within a four-centred stone surround, with paired recessed three-quarter glazed doors. Each opening has a stopped label, and a heraldic shield is set into the gable face.
