Description

The Coachman's Cottage, located 20 metres southeast of The Dogs, is a cottage dated 1838. It is constructed of local stone rubble and features a Welsh slate half-hipped roof with a brick stack. The building is one storey high with a loft and consists of three bays, along with an extension to the south. A reused 17th-century doorway with a cambered arch and label is present, flanked by plain two-light small-pane casement windows with timber lintels. There is a brick lean-to against the south gable that includes a stable door, and a loft door is situated in the north gable. The interior is simple, and above a small 19th-century store set in the fireplace of the south gable wall, there is a small stone plaque inscribed with "Built by Eliza Mogg 1838." The cottage has good group value with The Dogs.
