Description
Nos 3 and 5 Church Street is a shop building, with No 3 likely dating from the 20th century and No 5 from the 18th century. The structure features brick stretcher bond for No 3 and local stone rubble with ashlar dressings for No 5, both of which are painted. The roof is made of plain clay tiles with coped gables and there are brick chimney stacks. The building is two storeys high and has three bays, with bay 1 being No 3. Notable architectural details include rusticated pilasters and an eaves cornice on No 5. The early 20th-century shopfront runs continuously across the entire facade, with a doorway in bay 2. Above bay 1, there is a timber casement window with a configuration of 2-8-2 panes set in a timber architrave featuring false keystones. Bays 2 and 3 have 16-pane sash windows in architraved surrounds with true keystones. The interior has not been seen. The building is primarily noted for its group value.
