Description
The Nog Inn is a 19th-century inn located on South Street in Wincanton. The building is rendered and colourwashed, featuring a flat roof with large bracketed eaves and a brick chimney stack. It stands three storeys tall and has three bays. The upper floors are adorned with 12-pane sash windows set in plain surrounds. On the ground floor, there is a semi-circular arched alleyway to the left of the first bay, with 4-pane sash windows off-centre in the first and third bays, both equipped with external louvred shutters. Between these windows is a six-panel door situated in a semi-circular arched recess, topped by a Regency style cast iron fanlight. The interior has not been seen. The flat roof may be part of a series that was installed in Wincanton in the early 20th century, similar to the one at No 5 Market Place.
