Description
The Beer Chest Tomb, located 4 metres south of the southeast corner of the nave at the Church of Saint Mary, is an early 18th-century chest tomb made of Ham stone. It has a rectangular plan with a moulded base and recessed end panels. Each side features two recessed panels flanked by plain pilasters, and it is topped with a heavy moulded hipped top. While most inscriptions have been lost, one panel on the north flank commemorates George Beer, who died in 1837.
