Description

31 Station Road is a house, now functioning as a clinic, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It underwent alterations around 1860 and was extended in the late 20th century. The building is constructed of stucco with a slate roof, featuring stepped stone copings and rendered stacks at the gable ends. It has a double-depth plan with a 20th-century single-window range wing to the left.

The house is two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-window range. There are steps leading up to a Ham Hill stone Tuscan doorcase, which has an open pediment and an elliptical-arched overlight above a six-panel door. This door is situated below a round-arched window with six panes. Flanking the entrance are mid-19th-century two-storey canted bays, which have moulded cornices above each floor and six-over-one pane sash windows at the front and four-over-one pane windows at the sides.

Inside, the property features some shutters, panelled reveals, and six-panel doors from the original period. There is also a late 19th-century closed-string staircase, a polychromatic tiled floor in the hall, and a marble fireplace from around 1860 located in the ground-floor right room.
