Description
This is a house, built in 1764 and altered in the early 19th century. It's constructed with painted stucco over a cob and rubble stone base, and has a slate roof with a brick stack on the left gable. The house follows a double-depth plan.
The exterior is two storeys and symmetrical, with a three-window front. The upper windows are 6/6-pane sashes set beneath a modillion cornice. A 20th-century reconstructed Tuscan doorcase, topped by a semi-elliptical fanlight, frames a 19th-century half-glazed 4-panel door. To either side are early 19th-century curved segmental tripartite windows with 8/8-pane sashes to the central lights.
Inside, the first floor has six 18th-century 2-panel doors, while the ground floor front features 6-panel doors and a moulded cornice. A 19th-century closed string dogleg staircase has a pine swan’s neck handrail, stick balusters and turned newels. The fireplace in the right-hand ground-floor front room is flanked by semi-elliptical recesses. Other joinery, including architraves and skirting boards, dates to the 20th century.
Outside, a late 19th-century forecourt wall has railings and a cast-iron gate.
