Description
The two coach houses located 14 metres east of Church House are likely from the late 18th century or early 19th century. They are constructed from local stone with ashlar quoins and feature Welsh slate roofs. The coach house to the northwest of Church House extends between Church Street and the facade of No 4, partially obscuring it. This building now serves as offices, previously housing the Frome Selwood Permanent Benefit Society and currently Battens' Land Agency. The street-facing elevation has a modern shopfront, and above it, there is a semi-circular headed window with a bolection mould architrave under the coped gable. The west side facing No 4 is plain, while the east elevation features an arcade of three semi-circular arched recesses, which are now partly blocked with windows and doors. The interior has not been inspected. The second coach house, which matches the first in style and is of a similar date, is located to the west of Church House and is attached to the side of No 4. It has a stone gable end with a large semi-circular headed doorway and a brick side wall. Both buildings are included for their connection to Church House and their group value.
