Description

SP4635 ADDERBURY CROSS HILL R0AD (North side) Adderbury West 6/18 Coach house range to west of 08/12/55 Cross Hill House (Formerly listed as Cross Hill House, Bloxham Road)

GV II Coach house and service buildings. Probably mid/late C18 and early C19. Marlstone ashlar with Welsh-slate roofs, Single range. 2 storeys. Symmetrical 3-window coach-house section is probably earlier. It breaks forward in the middle bay below a triangular pediment; and has bands extending from the imposts of the central archway and linking the sills of the segmental-headed 2-light casements at first floor; outer bays have segmental-arched double doors. Shallow-pitched hipped roof is separate from later plainer 3-window range to right, linking to Cross Hill House (q.v.), and a single-storey coach house to left, both of which repeat the details of windows and doors. Interior not inspected. (Buildings of England: Oxfordshire: p419)
