Description

SE 36 NW LITTLETHORPE HARROGATE ROAD (east side, off)

6/48 Well cover in grounds approximately 30 metres to south-west of Hollin Hall

GV II

Well cover. Late C18. Ashlar. Chamfered arched recess with abaci and keystone enclosing spring or well. Arch surmounted by ashlar coping, overall height approximately 1 metre above water level. Flanking walls project and slope down to ground level, enclosing a shallow pool in front of the arch, through which the water drains away. The date 1785 is said to have been carved in the keystone, but not visible at time of resurvey.
