Description

This milestone, located approximately 40 metres west of the gates to Scampston Hall, dates from the early 19th century. It is made of sandstone and features a painted cast-iron plaque attached to it. The milestone is a round-headed monolith with a bordered rectangular panel that is inscribed with the distances to Scarborough (17 miles) and Malton (5 miles). It is included for its historic interest.
