Description

This milestone, located approximately 500 metres south of Knapton Lodge, dates from the early 19th century. It is made of sandstone and features a painted cast-iron plaque attached to it. The milestone is a round-headed monolith that stands about 0.75 metres high, with an inset rectangular panel set in a raised border. The panel is inscribed with the distances to Scarborough (15 miles) and Malton (7 miles). It is included in the register for its historic interest.
