5/237 West and East Lodges to Plompton Hall, with gate 15.3.66 piers (formerly listed as East Lodge at Plompton Hall and West Lodge at Plompton Hall)

Pair of lodges and gate piers. c1760. Probably by John Carr. For Daniel Lascelles. Coursed gritstone, Westmorland slate roofs. Two small 1-bay single-storey houses, with later 1-bay extensions, and attached gate piers flanking drive. West Lodge: two 16-pane sash windows with plain sills and lintels. Carved eaves brackets support guttering to right bay; hipped roof. Left (additional) bay has flat roof. Stacks left side and on ridge of bay to right. C20 board door with plain lintel faces drive. Square-section pier with shallow pyramidal cap is linked to house by short wall close to doorway. East Lodge similar but additional bay (to right) has hipped roof and ridge stack.
