Description

A large farmhouse, built around 1760. It is believed to have been designed by John Carr for Daniel Lascelles. The house is constructed from coursed sandstone and ashlar, with a stone slate roof. The main, two-storey central block is tall and features three first-floor windows, flanked by lower, two-storey, single-bay wings.

On the north side, the central block has a 20th-century glazed door with a blind circular window above, set within an arched recess. There is a blind window on the left side and two fixed windows with 12 panes each on the right. The wings feature large sash windows with glazing bars on the ground floor, with oculi (small circular windows) above both set within arched recesses. Horizontal bands mark the first floor and eaves. The central block has a pyramidal roof and large side chimneys, while the wings have hipped roofs.

The south side, overlooking the garden, has a 20th-century half-glazed door with a flat hood on the right side of a Diocletian window. A 30-pane sash window is to the left, and a canted bay window is to the right. A sash window with glazing bars is centrally located on the first floor, alongside six-pane sashes to the left and right. All sash windows have keyed lintels. A horizontal band marks the first floor and eaves.

The interior underwent extensive restoration and alterations between 1982 and 1983.
