Description

The north, east, and south walls of the former gardens to the east of Plompton Hall date from the late 18th century and were constructed for Daniel Lascelles as part of the Plompton Hall estate. The walls are made of red brick in English bond with ashlar coping. The north wall stands approximately 6 metres high and is buttressed at intervals, with no openings. The east wall rises about 1.5 metres above the ground level, which is banked up on both sides, and features three large buttresses on its east side. This wall ramps up to connect with the north and south walls. The south wall is around 4 metres high and has a narrow gateway at its east end. Additionally, a brick arched gateway connects the west end of the north wall to the south end of the east range of the farm buildings.
