Description

These are two late 18th-century buildings with a later front elevation, located on the north side of Market Place. The buildings are three storeys high, constructed of red brick with a Welsh slate roof and a central brick stack. They feature four windows, each with a sash window and glazing bars, topped with stone lintels. An Edwardian shop front, built of stone, projects outwards. A six-panel door provides access through a linking section to the building at number 4 to the right. The gable end displays tumbled brickwork. The buildings form a group with numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 9, 11, and 14, including The Bay Horse Public House and York County Savings Bank premises, all of which are considered to be of local interest.
