Description
This is a cowshed and granary located 12 metres southeast of Hall Farm, dating from the early 17th century. It is constructed from magnesian limestone rubble with ashlar quoins and features a pantile roof. The building has two storeys and four bays. On the ground floor, there are two off-centre entrances and two window openings, with the left window set in a chamfered surround. There are central steps leading to the first-floor granary entrance, which has a 20th-century long-panel door, along with additional window openings. The right gable end includes pigeon holes. Inside, there is a king post roof supported by chamfered beams. This structure is notable as part of a 17th-century complex that includes Hall Farm, stables, a threshing barn, and Burton Cottage and Chantries Cottage, which are reputed to have been the original Hillam Hall.
