HILLAM CHAPEL STREET (south side) Threshing barn to Hall Farm 10 metres to south west of house

GII Threshing barn. Probably early C17 with later alterations. Magnesian limestone rubble with asbestos roof.Two storeys, four bays with single-storey outshuts to each end.C20 barn entrance between two flat-headed entrances.First floor: pitching doors to 1st and 3rd bays otherwise blocked window openings. Triangular and slit breathers.Interior: king post roof with chamfered beams.Beams to both sides for threshing machinery. Notable as part of a C17 complex including Hall Farm (q.v.), Cowshed and Granary (q.v.) Stables (q.v.) and Burton Cottage and Chantries Cottage (q.v.) (reputed to have been the original Hillam Hall).
