Description

This is an early 19th-century building comprising numbers 1 and 2 Westgate. The building is constructed of coursed stone with a stone slate roof and features three brick stacks. It has two storeys and two hung sash windows with glazing bars, each topped with a stone lintel. The entrance features two doors with four fielded panels, each set below a four-light rectangular fanlight and stone lintel. Numbers 1 to 22 (inclusive), 23A and 23B, numbers 24 to 29 (inclusive), storage premises to the left of numbers 28 and 29, numbers 30 to 37 (inclusive), 37A, and numbers 38 to 69 (inclusive) form a group, of which numbers 11 and 12, 17 to 19 (inclusive), the storage premises to the left of numbers 28 and 29, numbers 37, 37A, 38 and 39, 41, and 65 to 69 (inclusive) are of local interest. Numbers 1 to 4 (inclusive) also form a group with the Wesleyan Day School.
