Description

This is a mid-19th century building on the South Side of Westgate. It is a two-story structure built of coursed stone and has a new pantile roof with a brick stack. The front has two windows: one to the left, which is segmental-headed and chamfered with a keystone; and a two-light window to the right, also with a segmental arched head and keystone, containing hung sashes with glazing bars. A later carved panelled door sits beneath a stone lintel. The building is included in a group with numbers 1 to 22 (consecutive), 23A and 23B, numbers 24 to 29 (consecutive), storage premises to the left of numbers 28 and 29, numbers 30 to 37 (consecutive), 37A, and numbers 38 to 69 (consecutive). Several other buildings within the group, including numbers 11 and 12, 17 to 19 (consecutive), the storage premises to the left of 28 and 29, 37, 37A, 38 and 39, 41 and 65 to 69, are noted for their local interest. A separate group including numbers 1 to 4 (consecutive) also relates to the nearby Wesleyan Day School.
