Description
The Ryedale Conservative Club, originally a house, dates from the early 19th century and features alterations from the late 19th or early 20th century. It is constructed of pink and cream mottled brick laid in Flemish bond on a painted stone plinth, with red brick dressings and a timber eaves course. The building has coped gables and shaped kneelers, along with brick end stacks, the right one being truncated, supporting a pantile roof.
The club has a central entrance hall plan and a three-storey front with three windows. The entrance features an open-pedimented doorcase with a recessed six-panel door and a radial fanlight. The flanking windows are tripartite single-pane sashes, as are the outer windows on the first floor. The central window on the first floor has been altered to glazed and panelled double doors that open onto an iron balustraded balcony supported by scrolled consoles. On the second floor, the tripartite sashes have been changed to casement windows, flanking an unequal 12-pane top hung sash. All windows are fitted with painted stone sills and brick quoined surrounds, with those on the ground and first floors featuring elliptical arches.
