Includes: No.10 ST MICHAEL STREET. Two houses, now one shop. No.36 C18, No.38 early C19, both with later C19 and C20 alteration. No.36 rendered and painted; No.38 painted brick in Flemish bond, with moulded timber eaves course. Both parts re-roofed in pantile, with brick stacks, at right end and centre (36), and at right end (38). No.38 has coped right gable and shaped kneeler. No.36: 2-storey-and-attic; 2-window front. Shop entrance in No.38; secondary entrance at right end, in No.10 St Michael Street. Ground floor of No.36 occupied by double shop front with centre door altered to window; single shop window to left. Double shop front has fluted pilasters, plain fascia and moulded cornice on paired grooved consoles, rising to form small central pediment. Single shop window in plain surround of pilasters with imposts and stepped cornice. Both shop windows incorporate roller blind boxes by J Dean of Putney. First floor windows are 4-pane sashes, the left one having painted stone sill. Gabled dormer in attic, with unequal 9-pane sash. No.38: 3-storey 2-window front. Early C20 double shop front with panelled pilasters, deep fascia and cornice; glazed and panelled shop door recessed between canted plate-glass windows with transom lights and slim glazing bars; blind box complete with fittings. On first floor, window to right is tripartite sash with 4-pane centre light and painted stone sill; 4-pane sash to left. Second floor windows are squat 8-pane lights incorporating casements, with painted sills. Windows on first and second floors have keyed flat arches. No.10 St Michael Street: house and shop, now cafe. Early C19, with later C19 and C20 alterations. Rendered and colourwashed, with slate roof, hipped over canted corner; and left-of-centre brick stack on Market Place front. St Michael Street front: 2 storeys and 3 windows. Central half-glazed and panelled door with overlight; single-light pivoting window beneath incised wedge lintel to right. To left, large plate-glass shop window in plain opening. First-floor windows are 4-pane sashes with painted stone sills. Market Place front: 2 storeys and 2 windows. Large plate-glass shop window in plain opening on ground floor. At left end, recessed 4-panel door beneath narrow overlight, together with blocked window above, belong to No.36 Market Place. 4-pane sashes with painted stone sills and incised wedge lintels on first floor. In canted corner between the 2 fronts is a disused glazed door with overlight: wrought-iron corner scrolls on roof.
