Description
46 Market Place is a building that consists of two houses now combined into one shop. It dates from the mid-18th century, although it may have earlier origins, and has undergone alterations in the late 19th to 20th centuries. The front is made of painted brick, while the rear is constructed from rubble stone, topped with a pantile roof and a central brick chimney stack.
The building is two stories high with an attic and features a three-window front. There are two pilastered shop fronts; the right one includes a recessed glazed door next to a canted three-light shop window, while the left has a plate-glass shop window. Both shop fronts have roller blind boxes with fittings. On the far left, there is a board door with a glazed panel that leads to a rear passage.
The first-floor windows are single-pane sashes with painted stone sills and timber lintels. In the attic, there are two flat dormers, each with two four-light windows. The rear of the building has a catslide roof with a raking dormer and a large-pane sliding sash window with two lights.
