Description
9 and 11 Finkle Street are two houses that have been converted into shops. They date from the mid-18th century, with some alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The buildings are constructed of coursed rubble stone, with the left side rendered, and the rear of No. 9 features pink and cream mottled brick in English garden-wall bond. The roofs are covered with pantiles and have brick gable and ridge stacks.
The front of the building is two stories high and has three windows. Both shops have 20th-century shop fronts with glazed doors; No. 11 includes a renewed keyblock lintel and has plate glass windows with two lights (for No. 9) and three lights (for No. 11). The first-floor windows are large-pane, sliding sashes with painted stone sills and painted timber lintels. Notably, No. 11 has a stepped eaves band.
