Description
Winley Hill Farmhouse is an early 18th-century farmhouse with attached front garden walls, located on the north side of the A173 in Great Ayton. The building is constructed from local pinkish brick in English garden wall bond, featuring stepped eaves courses, and the walls are capped with stone. The roof has been renewed with concrete tiles, which are also finished with stone copings and kneelers, and there are brick chimney stacks.
The farmhouse is two storeys high and has four windows, although the third window on the first floor has been blocked. A late 20th-century glazed door is present, along with small-paned casement windows from the late 20th century. The first-floor windows are in their original openings, while those on the ground floor have been widened. The windows are adorned with gauged brick arches that have keystones and stone cills.
The garden walls, which feature gabled coping, are tall at the sides where they connect to the house and slope down to a lower level in front.
