Description
This is a chest tomb dedicated to John Brerey, located approximately 10 metres east of the north-east corner of the Church of St Lawrence. The tomb dates from 1613 and is made of gritstone. It features a massive top slab with cavetto moulded edges, which is supported by four blocks set on edge. Each supporting block has a large inscribed equal-armed cross in its center. An inscription along the south edge of the top slab reads: "IHON BREREY DIED 1613", with the "N" reversed.
