Description
Compton Court Hotel is a house that has been converted into a hotel. It dates from the late 18th century, with a wing that was reconstructed in the 20th century. The building is made of brown mottled brick with ashlar dressings, featuring wooden eaves and a hipped slate roof, along with red brick chimney stacks.
The structure is two stories high and has a three-bay center flanked by single-storey, single-bay wings, and a rear outshut. The main entrance has central late 20th-century glazed double doors topped by a decorated radial fanlight, set within a doorcase that includes engaged Doric columns and an open dentil pediment with an entablature. The windows throughout are sashes with glazing bars, positioned under painted cambered arches made of rubbed brick. The side wings also feature sashes with glazing bars and a parapet, with angle piers that have capping and urns. The building has chimney stacks at both ends.
