Description

Nos 14, 14A, and 15 on Castlegate are 18th century or earlier cottages that stand two stories high. They are constructed from coursed stone and feature a pantile roof, with a kneeler and stone coping on the left gable end. The buildings have three windows on the upper floor, each with three lights and sliding sashes, two of which include glazing bars. The ground floor also has similar windows. There are three doors with plain lintels; two of the doors are six-panel designs, while No 14A has a plain modern door. These cottages, along with Nos 8 to 19 in sequence and 14A, create a visual group with the Friends' Meeting House, with No 8 being of local interest.
