Description

This pair of gate piers at Hardy Flatts dates from the early to mid-18th century. They are constructed from sandstone ashlar and feature vermiculated sandstone. Each pier stands approximately 3 metres high on chamfered plinths, with vermiculated panels on each side. The piers are topped with a cornice and moulded pyramidal caps. They serve as the entrance to the Castle Howard Estate.
