Description
The Railway Signal Box at Kirkham Abbey Station is a signal box built around 1856 for the York and North Midland Railway, likely designed by G. T. Andrews. It is constructed of red brick with slate roofs. The ground floor features two round-headed windows with glazing bars on the north-east front. Above, a first-floor ashlar bond supports an iron-bracketed balcony that wraps around three sides of the building, accessible via a set of external wooden steps. The north-east front has two large sliding sash windows with glazing bars, while each side wall has a single similar window; the south-east side also includes a door. The rear front has a projecting central stack, flanked by single round-headed windows with glazing bars.
