Description

The property at 35-39 Swan Road comprises a group of buildings dating to the 18th and 19th centuries. Number 35 is an early 19th-century building of three storeys with a double-fronted design and two windows. It features a slated roof with a coped gable and kneelers. The construction is of coursed, squared grit stone rubble, with recessed sash windows, some containing glazing bars. A stone doorcase with pilasters supporting an entablature frames a round-headed recessed doorway, which has a radial fanlight and a panelled door, approached by steps. Numbers 37 and 39 are later 18th-century buildings, also of three storeys and with two windows each. They have stone slate roofs and are constructed of coursed, squared grit stone rubble, with flush-framed sash windows and exposed boxing. The ground floors have modern shopfronts. The buildings are included in the list for their group value, together with No 1 Crescent Road. Numbers 31 to 39 (odd) form a group with the return of No 21 Crescent Road.
