Description

29 and 31 Castlegate are a pair of late 18th century buildings that stand two storeys high with a basement. They feature a brick first floor string and a pantile roof. Each building has a four-part window and a modern door, which has replaced the old one, located to the right within a plain arched recessed surround. This surround includes a pediment hood, a broken cornice, and fluted scroll brackets. Access to each door is provided by plain stone steps with simple wrought iron handrails. These buildings are part of a group that includes Nos 25 to 35 (odd).
