Outbuilding Approximately 500 Metres To North Of Kiplin Hall

This outbuilding, located approximately 500 metres north of Kiplin Hall, dates from the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed from coursed rubblestones and features a pantile roof in a Palladian style. The building is square in plan, with the front and rear halves separated by a spine wall. It stands two storeys high and has one bay. The gabled front includes a central recessed arched panel with a doorway beneath a deep lintel, which has a lunette opening above it. There is a stone band topped with an ashlar coped pediment. Inside, stone steps lead to the upper floor, where there is a large stone vat with a drainage hole in its base. The floor of the rear half contains a circular hole, likely a well, and the building may have been used as a grape press.
