Description

KIPLIN B6271 SE 29 NE (West Side) 4/11 East gateway and lodge to Kiplin Hall. 31.3.70 - II Gatepiers, gates and lodge to Kiplin Hall. Gateway late C18. Lodge c1870 by W E Nesfield. Ashlar and coursed rubblestone, stone slate roof, wrought- iron gates. Rusticated ashlar gate piers with chamfered plinths, entablatures with paterae and stepped caps. Scalloped carriage gate with spear-finialled bars and dog bars, ratings similar, standards with leaf motif finials. Lodge: T-shaped in plan with rear cross wing. 2 storeys, 3 bays. Central gabled bay: ashlar plinth and quoins. Ground floor: 3 light chamfered-mullion window with hoodmould. First floor: 2-light chamfered mullion window with hoodmould. In the gable is a blank chamfered slit window. Ashlar coping with finial. Outer bays blind. On the left return of the central bay is a 1-storey porch with ashlar dressings, chamfered window with hoodmould. Central axial stack, ridge stack with 2 diagonally- set flues.
