Stable Courtyard Approximately 75 Metres To North West Of Bolton Hall

The stable courtyard, located approximately 75 metres to the north-west of Bolton Hall, dates from the early 19th century. It consists of stables, a coach-house, dog kennels, a front wall, and a pump, all built from rubble with stone slate roofs. The structure is two storeys high, featuring a central range with three sections and flanking wings that extend at right angles.

In the centre, the coach-house has quoins and three four-centred arch openings made of rubble voussoirs. Above these are window openings with cambered arches, including a 6-pane sash window, a 12-pane unequally-hung sash window, and another 6-pane sash window. The building has end stacks.

To the left on the ground floor, there is a board door with a 4-pane overlight in an ashlar surround, two part-shuttered windows beneath cambered arches, and a stable door also in an ashlar surround. On the first floor, there is a part-shuttered window, a 5-pane Diocletian window, and a 12-pane unequally-hung sash window. The left wing has a hipped roof.

The right wing mirrors the left, except the Diocletian opening is boarded. The ground floor features a stable door in an ashlar surround, two coach-house doors, and another stable door in an ashlar surround. The first floor has a 12-pane unequally-hung sash window, a boarded pitching door, and a 12-pane sash window, with a hipped roof to the right and an end stack to the left.

Attached to the ends of the wings are single-storey dog kennels with a quadrant plan, featuring two doorways and a two-light window, all with ashlar surrounds. The front wall is made of rubble with ashlar coping, and in the centre, there are two ashlar gate-piers topped with ball finials. A cast-iron pump is located on the inner side to the left.
