Description
Bargate House is a mid-19th century building located on the west side of Bargate. It is constructed of red brick and has two storeys with a Welsh slate roof featuring brick stacks at the gable ends. The eaves are bracketed. The façade includes three windows with stone lintels and no glazing bars. On the ground floor, there are two canted bays that have plain pilasters and a cornice, with elliptical heads over the three lights. The door has a moulded stone surround and a rectangular fanlight above it. To the right of the main entrance, there is a plain stone surround for a tradesman's entrance. Bargate House is included in the group value context with Nos 41 to 47 (odd), Nos 51 to 57 (odd), and the premises occupied by the Richmond Operatic Society.
