Description

The boarding house at Ermysted's Grammar School was built in 1871 by the architects Paley and Austin. Originally constructed as the grammar school, it is now used solely for boarders. This stone building is designed in the Tudor style and features an asymmetric front with three storeys and string courses. The windows are stone mullioned and transomed cross windows, with the ground floor windows having 4-centred arched heads, while the upper windows are rectangular. The top floor includes five gabled half-dormers. To the left, there is a projecting gabled entrance wing that has a moulded pointed arched doorway with flanking lights, displaying the date 1875, along with an upper oriel. On the right side, there is a gable and a bay window.
