Description

The Roman Catholic Church of St Stephen, located on Gargrave Road, was built in 1836, possibly designed by Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin. This sandstone church features no aisles but includes a southeast baptistery and a west porch. It is designed in the Early English style, characterized by pointed lancet windows that are divided by statues. Inside, there is a richly carved reredos, triple east lancets, and three altars. The church also has stained glass windows made by Hardman and a west organ gallery.
