Description
41 and 43 Old Maltongate are two houses built around 1800, with some alterations made in the late 19th century. They are constructed of orange-red brick in Flemish bond, set on a painted stone plinth, and feature stone steps and a timber eaves cornice. The houses have a pantile roof with brick stacks located to the left of center and at the right end.
The buildings are two stories tall with an attic and have a three-window front. The entrance to No. 43 is accessed by three steps, positioned to the right of center, while No. 41 has its entrance through a rear access passage on the left. Both houses have six-panel doors, with No. 43 featuring a divided overlight above the door. The windows are sash style with painted stone sills, consisting of 16 panes at the right end and 12 panes on the left and above the front door. All window and door openings are topped with painted wedge lintels. In the attic, there are two flat-topped dormers; the left dormer has an unequal 12-pane sash, while the right has a 4-pane sash.
