Description
No 19 on Bridge Street is a house dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings and quoins, topped with a stone slate roof and featuring stone stacks. The building has a central hallway entrance plan and stands three storeys tall with a basement, comprising two bays.
There are two openings to the basement, although the right one is blocked. Access to the main entrance is via two steps leading to a six-fielded-panel door, which is set beneath a plain fanlight and is framed by an open-pedimented doorcase with pilasters. The front features tripartite sash bow windows that are flanked by pilasters and topped with a moulded cornice. To the far right, there is a blocked round-arched doorway with a rusticated surround.
On the first floor, there are 16-pane sash windows with a stone sill band and stone lintels. The second floor has 8-pane sash windows, also with stone sills and lintels. The building is finished with a coved eaves course, gable coping, and end stacks.
