Description
Nos 28 and 30 Princess Street, known as Princess House, is an early 19th century symmetrical pair of buildings. They stand three storeys tall with a basement, constructed from red brick featuring a painted plinth and bands between the storeys. The gable end roof is covered with pantiles and has a small flat cornice. The front has seven windows with recessed sashes; only one window on No 30 still has its glazing bars. The windows are topped with flat painted arches. Modern doors are located in the third and sixth bays, each retaining three-pane fanlights and Doric doorcases with pilasters and an entablature. There are seven stone steps leading up to each door, accompanied by plain spearhead railings. The buildings contribute to a cohesive group with the other listed buildings on the north side of Princess Street, from nos 2 to 30.
