Description
This building, located immediately to the east of Beckside Cottage in Hovingham, is a house that dates back to the early 19th century, with some alterations made in the late 19th century. It is constructed from hammer-dressed limestone and features a pantile roof. Originally, the structure consisted of a single-cell cottage on the left and a two-cell central entry cottage on the right.
The house is two storeys high and has three windows on the first floor. The entrance includes a four-panel door, with a later bow window to the left and a two-light Yorkshire sash window to the right. There is also a blocked doorway and a two-light Yorkshire sash window at the extreme left. The building features channelled wedge lintels with chisel tooling, and the first floor has two-light Yorkshire sashes with similar channelled wedge lintels. It has end and ridge stacks. This house is included for its group value with nearby structures.
