Description

Fosters is a house located in Hovingham Market Square, dating from the late 18th century, with alterations and re-roofing carried out in the late 19th century. The building is constructed from hammer-dressed limestone and features a pantile roof. It has a central entrance with a service wing to the right. The house is two storeys high and consists of three bays, along with a single-storey service wing. The entrance includes a six-fielded-panel door, which is flanked by sash windows that have glazing bars. The service wing has a casement window. On the first floor, there are unequal nine-pane sash windows. The roof overhangs, and there is a ridge stack, as well as a recent stack that rises through the rear pitch of the roof. The building is included for its group value.
