Description
Manor Farmhouse is a house dating from the mid to late 17th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble laid in courses and has a pantile roof. The building features a baffle entry and two cross wings, standing two storeys high with three first-floor windows, each topped with gables at either end. The entrance includes a six-fielded-panel door, with a three-light Yorkshire sash window to the left and two 16-pane sash windows to the right. On the first floor, there is a three-light Yorkshire sash window to the left, a blocked window above the door, and two 16-pane sash windows to the right. The eaves are sprocketed, and there are stacks at the ridge and right end at eaves level.
Inside, the left reception room contains an inglenook fireplace with a massive bressumer and a fire window. The right reception room has a blocked inglenook, with a blocked former fire window visible in a cupboard to the right. A staircase leading to the roof space is a later addition and features polygonal finials on the newels. The roofs of the south wing and main range have principal trusses with paired purlins set into the backs of the principal rafters, along with a ridge pole. The roof of the north wing is less formal, featuring a rough king post supporting the central truss.
