Description
Quarry House and the attached farm buildings consist of a house, stables, barn, and byre range, dating from the mid to late 18th century. They are constructed of coursed squared gritstone with a graduated stone slate roof. The house is two stories high and has two bays, with attached four-bay outbuildings to the left and a projecting three-bay barn and byre range on the far left. The building features quoins.
The house has a central board door set in a plain stone surround, flanked by three-light mullion windows, although the original mullions have been removed and replaced with casement windows. Above, there are two three-light flat-faced mullion windows in stone surrounds. The house has end corniced stacks.
To the left, the outbuildings include four stable and byre doors, with the rightmost door reduced to a window, and a four-pane window on the far left. On the first floor, there are two pitching doors on the left. The projecting barn on the east side has double board doors for a cart entrance in the second bay, featuring quoined jambs and a shallow segmental arch. There is also a byre door on the left. The rear of the barn has a similar cart entrance and a byre door on the left. The south gable includes a pitching door flanked by slit vents. The gable ends of the barn and house range have shaped kneelers and gable copings. Inside the barn, there is a queen-strut roof, while the interior of the house has not been inspected.
