Description
The bridge over Hundwith Gill, likely built around 1778 for Sir James Ibbetson of Denton Hall and possibly designed by John Carr, is constructed of ashlar. It features a single segmental arch flanked by pilasters that rise to the level of the parapet coping, each topped with shallow pyramidal caps. At road level, a two-course projecting band wraps around the pilasters and the square-section bollards that end the parapet. These bollards also have shallow pyramidal caps, and the slightly projecting coping stones extend as a band around the pilasters and bollards. The bridge serves as part of the east drive from Denton Hall to the East Lodges and crosses the parish boundary.
