Description

The Fountain is a disused well head, likely from the late 18th century, made of gritstone. It stands approximately 1.5 metres high and features a circular base topped with a monolithic, apple-shaped stone basin that has a diameter of about 1 metre. The basin is in two parts and is finished with a single piece ball and cushion finial on top. The top of the stone is slightly raised to serve as a seating for the finial. There is a blocked outlet hole located low on the south-east side, and a paving stone beneath it has a cast-iron drain cover.
